How Much Do I Love Lotus Notes?

This much.

A screen shot from one of the many, many times I've had to use Process Explorer to kill the POS crapware.

I am SOOOOOO looking forward to the day when we're able to put a stake in the heart of Lotus Notes and move to Outlook.  Outlook's got its own set of warts, but nothing like Lotus Notes which has completely failed to make any improvements since I used it in the mid-90s.

Crapware.  Total crapware.

[Editor's Note: We've gotten Jim back into his usual comfy white jacket with nice sleeves that tie behind him.  He's also happily blurbling in the corner again now that he's had his meds.  We now return you to your regularly scheduled enjoyment of  FrazzledDad.]

I've got a story or two about how smart... err, dumb... Lotus Notes is.

Luckily, I was able to have all mail destined for my Lotus inbox redirected to my Gmail account. So needless to say, I'm in a much happier place now. :)

When I installed Vista, I chose not to install the fat Notes client. Now, I just use iNotes, or Web Mail, or whatever they're calling the current iteration of the web/ajax client.

I agree. I use Lotus Notes at work and Outlook/Gmail at home. I did do like the previous commenter and started forwarding my Lotus Notes emails to a Gmail account.

Perhaps, just possibly, there have been many improvements, and your organization just hasn't taken advantage of them?

Check out www.ibm.com/lotusnotes about the new Notes version 8.

Wow this post was a total LOL moment. We just finished our migration from lotus (and a *very* old version at that) to Outlook 2007. There is now joy in my world once again!
