Via Instapundit, a blog post which pretty much sums up how I feel about the Republicans these days: Voting for Democrats in the hopes of wresting control of Congress from the GOP may be the only way to get spending back under control.
My hopes are pinned on John McCain. He's not perfect, but he's the last relic of a primordial era when "conservative" didn't imply "lauds and magnifies the national debt". The trouble is that, when I seize control of the nation and try to give him dictatorial power, he'll have too much integrity to accept it.
I'm back and forth on McCain. I think he's honorable as a person, but a I'm not overly fond of his Senatorial role s in the Keating Five, campaign finance reform, or the "Gang of 14."
I think we could certainly do a lot worse than him, though.
You're welcome to sieze control any time you want. Please just don't interfere with my freedom to home roast coffee and I'll be fine with it.
